Water Pump AGAIN?

its 2000 A6 2.7t
It was a regular mechanic that did the work. Taking the car again to the mechanic, they going to make sure its the water pump. not sure what kind of water pump was used.
October 2005 it was installed. my card is Audi a6 2000 2.7t

I have no idea what happen. but sound disappeared all the sudden.
Okay drove this morning, after 10minuts of driving, sound was gone. was on my way to the mechanic, he checked it anyway because it was leaking coolant, found a hose under the cover, couldnt reach it.
Want to charge me $250 for 3 an half hours wroth of work. + parts. he said he have to take the front off.
