4.2 Fuel issues
I seem to be having this recurring problem wiht my Quattro since i bought it.
The fuel in one tank doesnt seem to be transferring to the other tank and this casuse the ca to prematurely run out of gas even thought the guage shows half tank full.
Its crazy...ive changed the fuel pump which is now making a whinning & Gurgling noise yet the problem remains.
There is also a serious lack in performance. the pick up is absolutly pathetic. it takes 16 sec to go from 0-100km/h
The car also jerks when slowing down although my mechanic says this is due to the spark plugs which im having changed tomorrow i beleive that these are all realted to the fuel problem.
I beleiev that sparks can only improve performace so much...and the change in my opinion will not result in drastic changes.
Anyone else faced a similar problem casue im completely lost.

Hmmm, bad plugs can cause tremendous decreases in performance though....
kind of like running on 4 cylinders man, not burning any of the gas. Change em and post back your results then.
As for the tank problem, no clue, sorry man.

Re: 4.2 Fuel issues
There is a plastic tee valve on the right side of the tank by the fuel pump. Make sure all the hoses are attached to the tee valve. That valve transfers fuel from side to side in the tank.

plugs changed
I changed the plus ... adn still no difference... and for some reason the fuel pump kept dying on me every other week... discovered that its a cronic prblem with thew A8 due ot high levels of dust and heat here in the UAE... so switched to a nissan Patrol v8 (desert ocnditions) pump .. runs fine now...althought the transfer from tank problem still persists.
