Hi, ever since I changed the oil the engine makes a clatter noise for a second or so when i first start the car.Should I try a different oil? or maybe there is an additive I could add to it.I believe i put in 10/40 and the car has 100K on it. Ken

Audi calls for 0w-40w, but that's probably just the lifters pumping up at startup

I have this issue once in a while with my engine as well. As Beefy stated, it's just a matter of getting oil to the top of the valvetrain during startup. However, I find that I only get the noise when the oil level in the pan is towards the bottom of the "normal" range of the dipstick (still within perfectly safe levels).

If I maintain the oil level in the middle or high end of the "normal" oil level range, there is no noise at startup.

Can you elaborate on this? I have the same problem. Isn't this bad for engine? Did you have same problem? How many miles on yours. Thank you.
