Default Still Misfiring After Injector replacement, gasket replacement, pcv etc

Hello All.

I have 2007 VW Touareg 4.2 V8 FSI - BAR Engine (same as in the Audi Q7 4.2 V8). I have had multiple cylinder misfires for the last 6 or so months. I have done several things to try and fix the problems but I am still having misfires. I noted that after the changes on 30th June 18 the misfires changed to 'Intermittent' status. As the issues seems to be only on 1 side i.e. Cylinders 1, 2 & 4 could it be the High Pressure Fuel Pump that needs replacing?

The car starts up and essentially idles roughly and if you try and accelerate the engine dies.

What I have done so far in exact order (all OEM parts):

1.) Changed all Vacuum Hoses/Pipes (15 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)
3.) Changed all Spark Plugs & Coils (15 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)
4.) Changed PCV valve (15 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)
5.) Changed MAFs both sides (15 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached).
6.) Changed ALL 8 injectors (30 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)
7.)Changed Intake Manifold Gaskets and did carbon cleaning (30 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)
8.) Changed Valve Cover Gaskets (30 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)
9.) Changed Fuel tank Filter (30 June 18 VCDS scan done after this change attached)

As per attached VCDS scans done on 30 June 18 I still have 'Intermittent Misfires on Cylinders 1, 2 and 4'

Any thoughts ideas? Do I need to change the High Pressure Fuel Pumps?

Default Rough Idle & Going Off - No Misfires

Hey AudiWorld Forum Memebers,

So an update on my ongoing problems....
So I gave it a 2nd try on the carbon cleaning, which went well in my opinion. So no more engine misfire errors, those seem to have cleared. However I am not getting rough idle on startup and then the car goes off if you try to accelerate.

So what I have changed and done so far:

1.) All Spark Plugs and Coils - OEM
2.) Intake Manifold Gaskets - OEM
3.) Valve Cover Gaskets - OEM
4.) PCV - OEM
5.) All 8 injectors - Hitachi
6.) High Pressure Fuel Pumps - both left and right - OEM for the BAR engine
7.) Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter & Fuel Pressure Regulator under the back seats - VDO
8.) Vacuum Pipes - OEM
9.) Throttle Body - Bosch & I did the Throttle Body Adaptation Procedure as per VCDS and it worked/passed
10.) New Complete Intake Manifold - OEM (mechanic suspected stuck intake manifold flaps) - did Throttle Body Adaptation procedure as per VCDS after fitting new Intake Manifold and it worked/passed
11.) While we had the intake manifold off - changed the double o-rings under the oil filter housing.

So what next? I am getting the same symptoms car starts, rough idle then goes off.

Is there any idling rest procedure/adaptation that I need to do? Since I am not getting any mis-fire errors, could it be that after changing the

Turned out to be clogged Catalyic Converters. Had both of them cleaned at the dealer and this fixed the issue.

Not sure exactly how they cleaned them, I know they basically dismantled the exhaust system including the catalytic converters, then shook out a lot of the clogged gunk, and 'I think' they did some chemical cleaning. I also found out later that they drilled holes in the catalytic converters.

The car runs and drives well after all that, however because they drilled hole(s) I am getting 2 error codes:

001073 - Warm Up Catalyst; Bank 2
P0431 - 002 - Efficiency Below Threshold - MIL ON
001057 - Warm Up Catalyst; Bank 1
P0421 - 002 - Efficiency Below Threshold - Intermittent

I found out about the holes being drilled later on when I took the car back to indicate those 2 faults, and the dealer then told me that they drilled the holes and those apparently could be the cause of the 2 error codes. To solve the errors the dealer indicates I need to buy 2 new catalytic converters and replace.

Caveat...this was done in Nairobi, Kenya - VW dealer so we do not have the same stringent rules regarding emissions etc that may apply in other countries.
