How long has the 1.8 T got?

Re: How long has the 1.8 T got?
In some markets, a hot candidate to replace the 1.8 T is the 2.0 FSI. I read some press reports last November, announcing the A4 to be released in Germany with the 2.0 FSI engine (150 bhp) at the 3rd quarter 2002. The engine IS already out (see link below), but at the moment the A4 is still sold in Germany with the 1.8 T and the 2.0 engine without FSI (130 bhp). The FSI-technology is said to save about 15% fuel, BUT: you need sulfur-free gasoline!!! In Germany, almost all gas-stations started this winter to offer sulfur-free premium-grade gasoline.
So, if the 1.8T really is an endangered species in your market probably depends on the number of gas stations with sulfur-free gas, and the importance of low fuel consumption.
Anyway: the 1.8 T is not an "old" engine - there had been several modifications throughout the last years. I wouldn't wait for someday, but enjoy an A4 1.8 TQ right now!
