Map Updates 2017 A4, with MMI Nav System
Map updates are available online free. You need to download to a USB memory stick, portable HD or a SD Card.
I used a 500MB portable harddrive that had existing files of over 200MB used. (No need to erase files existing on the drive)
It takes about 2 hours to download the files from the Audi site, and 24 minutes to install on your Audi.
1. Firstly go to the Audi USA Site, for the updates. You must register your Audi and login (I am from Halifax Canada and this is the site for updates). https://www.audiusa.com/myaudi
2. Scroll down to bottom right of page and select: Audi Connect Services
3. Select: Complete Package and download the files for Mexico, Canada and USA. You must have at least 12.5 MB available on your drive. (There is no need to erase the drive as you are simply downloading data files and not system files)
4. Took two tries. Firstly, 12.5 GB was downloaded. Did not work. (I have a MacBook Pro and needed to ensure the Portable HD was formatted to NTFS Microsoft.)
5. Then downloaded again 10.5 GB, on the portable Seagate hard drive, formatted to NTFS Microsoft. I did not use any folders and there are many other files on the Hd.
6. The files were randomly dispersed with other files on the HD. The download took two hours and then I went to our Audi.
7. With the car on but not turned on (started without pressing the brake pedal), I plugged the usb into console usb slot.
8. Selected Drives on dashboard , then slid MMI **** to right and MMI system, System Maintenance, System Update appeared. In the update, I simply chose update and the car did the rest. It took about 24 minutes. Done.
