"Oil" warning light? 96 A4 2.8 Please help

Default "Oil" warning light? 96 A4 2.8 Please help
My odometer flashes the word oil right below it for approx. 2 minutes after starting the car (96 A4 2.8) then it goes off permanently until the vehicle is turned off and started again. It doesn't seem to be one of the normal lights that flash at startup. Also, there are no leaks and there is plenty of oil in the reserve? Any insight would help.
Also, what the hell is "oil" supposed to mean anyway? Low Oil?

It's time for oil change. Need VAG tool to reset. NOT oil pres. problem.

Don't need VAG tool, search tech FAQ for resetting service light. Just did it on mine.

Sorry, that procedure doesn't work on 1996 and 1997 A4's....read the article.
