Is $1200 a good price for a tranny with 55K on it (97'2.8 QM) ?
The shop who has my car is trying to get me to buy a tranny for 2200, but I called around ad found one for the price i listed above. They also want to hit me up for 16 hrs of labor. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

That is a GREAT deal! The lowest I can find one for is $1500. ..
Usually they range about 1500-1750 for that vintage.
(I am searching for one as well. care to share where you found it??)
Shop time should be around 9 hours.. not 16. that is what it was last time I had my tranny replaced.

Well.. I used to run a 125 shot NOS on it..
to make a long story short.. after I threw a valve.. I had to replace the entire top half of my motor.. bye-bye NOS
I think my first tranny was just weak.. not sure... happened on the highway with the juice on..
The second one was really my fault.. forced it into first...
But, yes.. I drive it hard
