1.8T owners who had timing belt changed... roughly how much did your dealer charge?

forget the dealer. they're over priced and most don't take care of your car. buy a TB kit for $135
from TPC, which includes the belt, tensioner and dampner. Either DIY or have a your reputable local German car/Audi mechanic do the job for less who will take care of your car because they want you to come back.<ul><li><a href="http://www.thepartsconnection.com">http://www.thepartsconnection.com</a</li></ul>

My dealer charged $626 for the timing belt....
The water pump was not replaced. Dealer said that on the 1.8T the water pump does not run off the same belt as in the 2.8 so there was no advantage to replacing it. I'm no mechanic so I don't know the accuracy of this info...I'm just repeating what they told me FWIW.
