I recently changed the oil myself on my '96 A4. Does anyone know how to reset the oil service interval indicator?

I read that in the tech article. It doesn't seem to work on a '96 or at least my '96.

Default This will not work on a 96. The article says that it is confirmed on '98 and '99 cars.
To reset the indicator on a '96, you MUST either go to the dealer or use the VAG-COM tool. I don't have the VAG insturctions with me now, if you need them, send me an e-mail and I will get back to you as soon as I can find them.

You need the VAG tool to rest the indicator on a 96. Trust me - been there, done that.
