2.5 TDI engine
I'm back in the A4 saddle again. Sold my 2000 A4TQMS last November in Toronto. I now have a 1999 A4 Avant in the UK with the V6 diesel.
You folks in N.A. are missing out... this engine is truly amazing. Even (APR) chipped, my 1.8T didn't have this kind of punch... and I've averaged 42.1 miles to the (impreial) gallon!
Great fun and great mialage... quite a rarity these days!
Oil burner's rule! (or something like that...)

The problem seems to be that GM built some Diesels back in the 80's. They were crap.
I think that's the common US definition of "Diesel".
GM is trying to redeem itself with a new *truck* Diesel engine (the "Duramax 6600") that's supposed to be quite good and even fast. For a truck of course.
For now the TDI Jetta/Golf is our only option.
