You'll be fine with a quality 91 octane
Under hot days repeated boost you might exceed the timing pull, but honestly 2 octane pts isnt going to do anything, except run less than efficiently

That is fine for 91 found in the midwest and east coast
but 91 here on the west coast is more like 8 points worse then EC 93 octane. He will want to change over to a 91 octane chip once he gets to CA.

Yeah, just not a good idea... get the 91 OCT chip... your problem is the wrong plugs though...
get a copper core plug... you have to change them more often but they dissipate heat well and help to avoid predetonation. Make sure the gap is correct.
Although, I ran mine for 15K once... no probs.
