Good posts here... all good info. The funny thing is, I design hybrid transmissions for a major (big 3) automaker. I know all about the transmissions, and agree, nothing is lifetime without service, especially when it comes to fluids, debris generation, clutch material burning up, bushing wear, or anything else that causes wear.
I just didn't have enough oil and didn't have a good pumping system to get the oil up in the pan. I need to get the car up higher on all 4 wheels and push as much fluid as I can in there before starting again. I did shift through the gears and let it get warm and keep pumping, but this just wasn't the ideal setup in my garage. I do all my own work on vehicles, including a rebuilt and finished 68 Chevelle SS. But I've never owned an Audi, and was just having fun with the maintenance on this sucker. It's a good little car, but that German engineering is definitely not designed in mind for a shadetree mechanic, or even a hybrid design engineer, to work on very easily without all the good tools and setup!
All in all, this car has been an interesting experience to say the least, but pretty decent for a car that is 14 years old but only with 120k miles.
Thanks everyone.
