Default 96 A4 2.8Q Thermostat Replacement Shortcuts?

Dose anyone know any thermostat replacement shortcuts so I don't have to take off the timing belt?

Default Pretty tight. You may get away by pulling the belt off the left cam sprocket and tensioner 80% out

meaning some of the belt is still on the sprocket. And then you may have about an inch of room behind the belt to work the T-stat housing out.

You'll still have to take off everything upto the TBelt to get to the Tstat housing though. But at least if above works, you don't need to worry about loosing the timing off the sprockets and lower gear. Slightly loosening the tensioner will also help with this approach.

Zip tie the belt to the cam sprockets then loosen the tensioner.

Default Yeah, you can just twist the timing belt 90* and pull the thermo. housing out.

I did this 3 years ago. Did not require removing the belt at all.

Also have to wedge with a screw driver the crank gear and belt so it doesn't drop there too
