Default a4 keyless remote

hey guys, i wanna buy one of those switchblade type of keyless remote keys off of ebay, and i saw that there were two kinds.
1.) 2 button
2.) 3 button (lock, unlock, trunk)
the dealership told me that the 2 button one is for my car, but i was wondering if i got the 3 button one, could i get them to program it so that it will open up my trunk too? and also... since these are used keys, would it easy for those guys to re-key it ?
thanks.

Default No, there's no OEM remote trunk release...

...thus, you wouldn't be able to program it into a remote. The three button should work, except for the trunk release of course. You'll need to buy the key half of the remote at the dealer and have them cut it for your car ($60-70)....there's no way to "re-key." GOod luck

Andy

The A6, aka "3 button remote", does work on the A4.

Correct. My remote for my '98 is the 3 button type. It's the trunk button that does not function.

Right, 3-button will work, except for the 3rd button (for the sedan at least). ;-)
