Not really sure what you mean with regards to the posting etiquette.

Anyway, I tried to remove the sensor with some vice grips this afternoon, and after about 2 1/2 hours with WD-40, I managed to slide it out about 1/" at best. I then noticed that the plastic housing was turning, but not the metal sleeve that was inside the hub. So I figured I really buggered it now. I tried to pound the sensor back into the hub, but it wouldn't budge. So I left it right where it was. The ABS and ESP lights are now on, the ABS is not active, and I no longer have the pulsating ABS now when I stop. Perfect! I botched repair gone right!

Well, at least you posted in the right spot!

It is not uncommon to destroy a sensor trying to get it out, especially in the rust belt. Make sure you remove the brass "cage" (you'll see) and clean the whole bore (battery teminal brush works well) before you install the new sensor.

???????????? I see this question all the time. 99% of the time it is a sensor that is not seated. It's very common.

And the other 1% is??? (im not being a smart *** either). All my sensors are sitting snuggly, but Im having the same issue. However, I dont have vagcom to verify wheel speed. I suppose that is the next step. Not to hijack the thread, but how do you unplug the ABS module? I dont like driving with the ABS module kicking in at every stop.

Do you have to do any calibration with the electronics when you go to a bigger outside diameter tire?????? (i put 17" wheels on with a profile that makes the tire slightly larger than factory)

Finally got around to putting another wheel sensor in. ABS light is now out, and the codes have all been cleared. Running the Vag on the car produced no outstanding codes. HOWEVER, the same problem in the very beginning is back.

The ABS pulses just before you come to a stop. ARGH!!!!

I cleaned the sensor before putting it back in, and even blew out the hub for any dirt hanging around inside.

I pushed the sensor in as far as it would go.

Could my ABS module be the culprit?

Here is a question for the techies. Now that the ABS is functioning again, I hear a series of very quiet clicks coming from around the cluster area, maybe even from under the dash, nevertheless, these faint clicking noises are coming from some sort of relay. Those clicking noises are not audible when the ABS is disengaged.

Does anyone else always here those faint clicking noises?

Time to pull the driveshaft out and check the tone ring.
