Annoying Rattle!
Recently bought a '01 1.8T QMS, there seems to be a really loud, annoying rattle coming from the rear passenger door. It's coming from the fake aluminum trim piece. Anybody have any ideas to stop it. Can I remove that piece to see wht the hell is going on. Thanks.

Sounds like one of the speed nuts came off. Just get another one...
they cost like .75 cents, and remove the door panel. The speednut just pushes onto the stem thats attached to the trim, and it holds it tight to the panel. The method on removing the door panel is in the FAQ section, or as MarkP. He's the resident interior specialist.

Glycerin oil!
You can find it with any first aid supply. Friend here in Toronto with an S4 recommended this as he has used it for years and I got around to trying it out and it works waaaay better than a can of silicone spray. With silicone I would still get some creaking all over the car but with glycerin it almost got rid of it - only to hear it when driving on some really rough roads.
You need to put on a light coat of glycerin oil on the rubber seals both on the door frame and on the body - concentrate on the seals around the top corner of the window frame as this is prone to flexing when driving believe it or not. There is also a strip of rubber on the top of the door that needs a light coat also.
This works way better than silicone as I find silicone to disappear into the rubber but doesn't really change the feel of the ruuber. With glycerin it doesn't easily absorb into the rubber but sticks to it. Also it doesn't damage the rubber also as this isn't a petroleum product. The only thing is to remember you got this stuff on the seals and NOT to lean against the frame or whatever as you get this stuff on your hands.
