Saying if your ignition fails then the starter can fail because it's directly related to the ignition?

Is that what they're asking for now?!
I mean, would they really give in and pay the whole deal if you had such a statement? Methinks they would just string you along with another excuse....... :/

No - that's my chain of thoughts. To get another tech outside of them to say it's possible...
They're willing to cover 25% of the total repair cost - at dealer cost.
So instead of $850 to install the starter, it's about $500 dealer cost. I'd pay 75% of 500 which is about $400.
I still dont' think it's right though. I think they should cover it all, or AT LEAST 1/2 of it.

I agree, but who's to say....
...that they don't try to discredit whatever tech you might get, or suggest that somehow you paid the guy to sign a statement. I don't mean to sound negative, and I do agree with you that they <b>should</b> be helping you more than they've offered. However, do you really think they'll look at such a letter and go "Oh, ok, yeah since this Audi tech in <who knows where> said it could happen.....so I guess we have to step up and cover the repair..." ?? I mean, it's worth a shot...and if I were in your shoes I'd probably do the same, however I just wouldn't put much money on it working. Anyways, good luck....let us know how it turns out.

I guess that letter would be more to support me when I go to corporate about it...
not with the dealer dirctly. I agree, they'd probably care less what another mechanic would say.
I'll keep everybody posted. Hopefully there will be positive outcome from this so I can spread POSITIVE word about this dealer, instead of negative by just the facts of what's going on.
They're a brand new Audi dealer in a very affluent area - I'm sure they don't want a bad reputation right from the beginning!

I agree. The AOA area rep has the final say, from what I'm hearing ...
and he's refusing to cover more than 25%. Since it's directly related to a recalled part that failed, they should cover it. Maybe take it up with the Better Business Bureau or the NTHSB. I don't know what to do next.

So if a part fails because of a directly connected recalled part, should the failed part be covered?
