Anyone bought new inside door handle trim? What did it look like?
I bought new pieces for both front sides. These are the black trim that covers the top of the inside door pull (I think they are called "finger plates"). The new ones that came (from a dealer) look to be painted flat black, whereas the original ones are coated with a rubber-like substance.
Was this somekind of model year difference, or is the current parts supplier to Audi skimping on the coating?
The ones I received really don't match very well at all. Anyone have any insight?
BTW, my interior is black (NOC/QL, I believe).

Well, the flat black look worse, IMHO. I'd rather have my old ones with some minor scratches.
The flat black doesn't match any of the interior trim. Not really sure what I should do if these are my only option. Those plates are the only flaws in my interior -- I thought new OEM would be perfect. Crap.

strip/sand and paint. You'll lose the printing near the mirror control, though.
New ones are relatively cheap. They can be had for less than $25 each. However, as I mentioned, I'm not happy with the new ones I received.

replacing them are really the only option- audi jipped us on this part
ECRU (tan):
Driver Front Door Pull Handle: 8D1-867-171-B-R01 ($21.06)
Driver Front Door Switch Cover: 8D1-959-521-B-R01 ($42.82)
Passenger Front Door Pull Handle: 8D1-867-172-A-R01 ($21.06)
I ordered these back in 2005 from 1stvwparts when they were still allowed to order audi parts. (prices are what i paid then). the R-01 is the color code for Ecru. You'll have to look up the color code for the black that you are looking for.

Did you read my post? I did buy new ones and am not happy with the look.
Trying to find out if the painted ones I received from Audi are the only ones currently available or if I should send them back and buy from a different dealer.
My prices were similar to yours, but the switch plate was ~$35.
