Default What if...

If you put your hand on the glovebox as it is rattling, does it stop? Mine used to do that...but I crammed a lot of junk in there including (gasp) actual gloves and now it doesn't make any noise. I think it should be easy to fix, though. One rubber contact (in my case the left one) doesn't come all the way into contact with the inside wall. A little strip of rubber on the wall on either contact should do it.

When I hold it in place it will stop. I tried putting a rubber stop on, but it either kept rattling or wouldn't close properly

Perhaps not the most elegant solution... but if you used electrical tape (or comparable) instead of rubber you could add one layer at a time on the same spot until the noise went away and the compartment also closed. Other types of tape might be better.. electrical tape adhesive degrades in extreme heat.

My feeling is that it would work better doing it to the right side contact. Since the compartment is held in place in the center only, adding more pressure to the right side will rock the whole door a little left and thus give a better contact there.

You could try it with masking tape at first as an experiment since that is very cheap and should come off easily.
