Go to kbb.com and type it in. PUt the mileage you think in... and maybe even pick an older car. Should give an estimate.

Default How much did you pay for your car? Here's how I would do it...

I would recommend leaving the mods out of the equation for now because thats something you can add/delete/negotiate at the bottom line as needed. Use private party value from nada.com or kbb.com

I'll use my numbers for example. I paid $35k for my car (yes, thats invoice) 31 months ago. KBB.com says the private party value is $24k, so my car has depreciated $350/month. Looking down the road, I would expect my car to be worth $14k when its five years old.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but I think this chainsaw math will definitely get you in the ballpark. This assumes that many variables are linear - depreciation, mileage, and wear/tear...but trying to nail those things down is like chasing your tail.

Default i paid

$14k last may (16 months ago). i know that depreciation is greatest at its earliest stages, but then slows gradually. that's how cars are never actually worth nothing. it's like half lives of radioactive materials I suppose. hmmm, good analogy, me i'm guessing somewhere around $7-8k, in about 4 years, guessing that my largest 'losses' have already occured prior to me owning the car. thank you for your view on it, it helped me come to my conclusion.
