Default Is the ATF used in fwd the same in awd (98a41.8TQtip) ....

I just bought 3 liters ($16 each) of this stuff from the Audi dealer. I made sure to ask the "guy" behind the counter that I needed it for a 98 a4q1.8tip, but he didn't give me the warm and fuzzy because I asked him some general questions about pricing of parts and stuff and he quoted me the eibach springs for $165 a set (4) and without blinking I said I'll take two sets. But after further review he said that they were $365. So to amke a long story short, is there a difference and what's the right P/N for my application. TIA.

New and improved sig to come.

Default interesting... how are you going to fill?

Audi forces the fluid into the tranny... do you have a way of doing it? its a sealed transmission.

Default Ever watch a show with a guy named MacGiver ....

I don't know if the spelling is right, but I went to the local True Value and bought one of those plastic squeeze siphon pumps ($2)and 6 ft. of pastic tubing. I had to step down from the pump part with one piece of 4 inch tubing, 1/2OD-3/8ID, because the 6 ft piece is 3/8OD-1/4ID. I am betting that the 3/8OD tube will fit through the baffle of the fill "plug". Now how to get the fill "plug" off. It looks to be like a 11/16 hex wrench. I am going to look for an allen wrench tomorrow at the hardware store around that size. If I can't find one, I'll use a 7/16 or 3/8 hex bolt with two nuts on it. I'll stick the hex part of the bolt into the fill "plug" and use a wrench to turn it on the two nuts "locked" onto the bolt shaft. (I know, I teed it up for some of you with that last description.)

Once I get the fill "plug" out, that's where the siphon comes in. I don't have a VAG and I know it should be around 90-115 but I'll put a litre in and run the engine. Once I see the temp move off of 100, I'll start filling it up until it over flows. I already have the car up on stands and it's pretty level.

That's MacGiver for you. Wish me luck. BTW I asked at the dealership while I was there picking up the ATF and he wants parts and 3-4 hours labor (around $350 bucks)If I had bought this car new and f***ing with the sealed trans would void my warranty, I'd open up the wallet, but I bought an older (not so old, 98) so I could DIY on the maintenance and mods.
