Default Auto-RX & ZF Tiptronic Tranny

Anyone used auto-rx in a 2000 or later Audi tiptronic ZF transmission? If so any problems?

I'm going to change the atf on my A4 with 93K miles and am considering doing a auto-rx clean since my independent Audi tech said he'd seen some tiptronics with sludge.

Default Do you really want to try snake oil on a $4k trans?

Seriously. Drop the pan and look inside. If you see any sludge, drain and refill a few times.

Default It's not sludge they are seeing, it's metallic shavings from the clutch packs...

they cling to the magnets in the pan. Do NOT use anyhing but the specific ATF in your car.

I've seen where that particular snake oil has done wonders on a sludged engine but agree with you all about not using it in the ZF trans. Just wanted to comfirm it.

Thanks guys.

I use ARX a lot, but would not use it in a Tip.

Yep that's what I plan to do and will use either Audi ATF or Pentosin ATF1 but leaning heavily toward the Audi ATF.

Default Do the Audi ATF, get the pentosin or ZF number off the bottle ..

order it cheaper somewhere else, or check your local VW dealer.

Yeppers. If you really want to do it, fine. I just don't believe the Tip sludges at 90k.
