automatic vs tiptronic question

Re: Are you thinking of some sort of conversion? dont bother..tip is more fun but..
for performance wise you might as well go to Level10Performance and get some high-stall torque converter or valve body modification to your tranny (dunno if its avail for 5spd auto but i dont see why not).

My A4 page

not w/o a tip chip.
TIp mode shifting is slower than full auto mode without the tip chip. And even with the tip chip, full auto mode is going to ship better than in tip mode.

Only advantage of TIP is no unwanted upshifts during downhills, curves, etc. (also CTV=no quattro)
To me, that would make the TIP a HUGE advantage.
I'm waiting for a CVT(no torque converter losses) with Quattro before I consider giving up the stick.

Re: I disagree. I have tip w/tip chip and with tip chip i notice a small minimal firmer shift as...
well as giving you a bit further into the red (not that it matters much since our cars should be shifted about 6000rpm). However, I dont think it made much difference btwn the full auto mode and the tip mode except tip lets you shift at your desired shift point (both upshift and downshift). On the other hand, I believe tapping on the steering buttons is a "quicker" movement/reaction than using the tip stick on the column.

My A4 page
