Default Best times 0-60 times for either A4 engines (please advise)

I realize that the quoted times from Audi and magazines that have done tests have usually been with new cars that have not been broken in yet. I would like to know what you guys are getting close to in your A4's. My dad is considering the A4 and we have both done a lot of research. Would a 2.8 with a good exhaust and chip have a better 0-60 time than a 1.8 with an exhuast and chip? What else can you do to a 1.8 besides upgrade to a KO4 that will get you around 220 hp? Is that possible without a K04 upgrade.
Thanks in advance and sorry for what may seem to be an exccesively long post.

Default I am probably the most unknowledgeable person on this subject...

but unless you're going to do something like the supercharger upgrade from PES (or somthing comparable)

http://www.pes-tuning.com

You're better off going w/ the 1.8T and Mods.

Default A chipped 1.8T is faster than a 2.8 (chipped or not)...

You can get up to 235hp with a K04 kit, or you can get 290-310 with APR's stage III and III+. There is a supercharger available for the 2.8 that will produce around 280hp. This is a very short and incomplete answer I'm afraid, but I'm sure you will read more here.

Default Flame war, where is it at..

There is a debate about this...

What are the importance of 0-60.?? To some going in straight line the fastest is the most important thing to them, to some its not..

Between the 1.8 and 2.8 there are big difference in low end torque.

166 ft. lbs. @ 1950-5000 RPM VS 207 ft. lbs. @ 3200 RPM

Now that something to consider as well.. If you want initial power and torque the 2.8 is the way to go..

Now investing time and money into either one is up to you.. What do you want for gains, whats important to you and how much money do you want to spend..

Default yeah, we're all flamed out... but we can link you to some other threads...

a 1.8t once chipped is faster. period.. unless you get the PES supercharger, but we're talking big money there.
turbos are more fun
S4s are even more fun......
but the v6 is smoother, has leather, and other cadilac stuff (...Watches back...)

the way to go (which i regret for not going) is 1.8T manual Sport celebration.. and do it fast, before they run out (you have like 2 weeks or less)

Default the 1.8t tends too losen up a little and assuming your BPV stays good

you 0-60 times won't change really -- you can see the motortrend long term a4 test for more info on that
