Default Big brake owners, how do your brakes survive winters with snow n' salt?

curious as to whether you feel they really suffer from inclimate weather.

Cheers,

Default They'll take a beating.

Most kits have some kind of hardware on the kit that ends up not being very corrosion resistant. At the very least, it'll just look like hell after one winter, at the worst, some bolts you need to turn will be corroded into oblivion. I believe Shon, Mark and Chad have all posted pics of their "brand A" brakes after a Chicago winter.

Using harsh wheel cleaners makes the situation worse. Typically, they'll get behind the wheel, and you'll never rinse them thoroughly enough. Time and heat take their toll, and those wheel cleaners will usually accelerate any corrosion taking place.

Default No problems with the Stoptech calipers. The anodized APR stoptechs did not fare as well.

Most of that issue however was due to overtightening of the bridge bolts, not inclement weather.

Default I'll check with Silver Streakin in spring 2005.

He'll put those things through their paces next winter...come the following spring, I'll hear about any issues (if any).

How's the hardware holding up on the kit? Signs of corrosion on the bolts/nuts?
