Buying Oxygen Sensors
#11
Hey greyhound. Long time!
First scan vag-com and post the dtc codes. I wouldn't personally start throwing parts at the car just yet.
There are 2 oxygen sensors. Pre-cat/test pipe then after cat. I have a code now for my pre-cat B1 S1. The important one. I first want to throw in the new MAF in first. Since I have a bad MAF, reads .15 g/s at idle. Then clear code and see if it still throws code for oxygen sensor.

Sounds like coil pack I wouldn't worry about the b1 s2 code. That's because of your cat/test pipe.
Move your coil pack from cylinder 2 to 3, reset and if it shows up on 3. Then you found the problem.
I would also check the coilpack 2, if it's clamped down correctly and not loose.
Of course before you move coil packs, take a peak at the spark plug on cylinder 2. See the condition and if it's tightened all the way, could be lose. Or bad plug.

It's not the typical coilpack problem I've had in the past. Will have to look into it more.
I've got the non fouler on the rear sensor so it adds another complexity to the problem.

I used the Bosch universal sensors in the upstream location. I replaced them over three years ago and have had no problems since. Access to the sensors is tight--make sure you have a variety of socket extensions including a U-joint. Small hands help too!
