Can a 1.8t chipped compete with a stock 2001 3.2 cl ???
Im very close to closing the lease deal on this 2001 1.8t. I think its a good deal. Premium and cold weather + xenons for 400 a month 1800 out of pocket. Is it??
And as soon as i get it, the GIAC chip is going in. However my friend just got a 2001 3.2 cl for the same exact money and is basically mocking me that im gonna have to ask him for rides because his car is soo much quicker (although we all know its an ugly , oversized accord)
so the questions is, Is the 1.8 chipped really that much slower then a stock 3.2 cl? and how does it compare to a stock 2.8 a4?

Re: Can a 1.8t chipped compete with a stock 2001 3.2 cl ???
is it the type S? The type S 3.2 cl has 260hp while the regular 3.2 cl has 225. The type S should do the 1/4 mile in 14.9-15.1. The regular cl probably 15.3-15.5. If you get a giac chip on a manual a4 1.8t, you should run 15.3 or so. So, it should be close and you won't get smoke. Get a k04 and then you will be smoking him. Plus the a4 is so much better looking. A stick 2.8 a4 runs 15.8 or so btw

That is funny because I was at the drags and some guy had a CL type S that had been mods that put
it at 300 hp and the best he could do was 15.2, so where does that put a stock type S

Re: Must have been his first time
I lined up next to him (2 weeks ago), third yellow came on and I left. Looked back at half track and he hadn't launched yet. Here was his run:
RT - 1.922
60ft - 10.170
330ft - 14.397
1/8 - 17.735@73.51
1/4 - 23.063@92.73
If you look at the trap speeds, they aren't bad. I'm guessing by the guy's driving skills, he probably didn't know how to shift the "sportshift" automatic, nor did he know how to brake torque. I suspect with a little practice he'll be well into the 14's. I've had a freeway encounter with a CL-S that had at least an exhaust and it was pretty quick.

My girl has a Type-S with some development mods on it...
and it is putting out about 300-305HP -- purely speculation as it hasn't been on the dyno yet. I am guessing 0-60 times in the 5.8-6.0 range -- maybe even a tad better. I guarantee that it will smoke any and all chipped 1.8Ts -- already done it and that wasn't even with me sport shifing -- it was doing all the work.
I have some good auto industry friends who are in the process of potentially opening a VTEC aftermarket company -- very high end stuff (thet are tired of all the ricer, low-end "stuff" available). If you have to ask how much, don't bother! We were approached about using her car as a test mule -- they made an offer we couldn't refuse! I am not at liberty to discuss what has been done to the car other than to say we have put over 6000 miles on the mods and they are performing perfectly!
We are going to sell the car in the next month -- it isn't really suited for my girlfriends driving style and she feels it is way too loud for her -- no, it doesn't have an oil can on it!!! She is going to get a TL-S next -- limited mods! She has three buyers already lined up for it -- we are waiting to determine when we can sell it with the mods -- if at all. And BTW -- I hate this car -- it is a land yacht -- but a fast land yacht!

Re: Actually...
...someone else who was there said he pulled forward and then backed up because he thought he was still staging. It'd be hard to spin the tires for 10 seconds without some serious smoke (and I think the CL-S is too heavy to do a standing burnout for that long).
