Can the Denison Icelink plug into the CD changer output in the trunk, or is it only to the headunit?

Can the Denison Icelink plug into the CD changer output in the trunk, or is it only to the headunit?
I would then run the cable up though the car to the centre console where I store the ipod. The reason for this would be to allow me to plug the CD changer back in for the time when my Ipod may not be in the car, or if I have a CD that I haven't loaded to the ipod yet.
Also, is there a cheap option that is just a cable that will connect to the cd changer in the trunk and then to the ipod? I'm not too concerned about full integration and radio controls.
