Default Can a US-spec A4 be chipped in Europe without problems? ...

Let's say I move to Europe and decide to chip the car there. Any of you know if there would be any issues? Do companies like APR (I guess I should ask them directly but maybe some of you know this) sell chips in Europe and would those chips work on a US-spec ECU?

I've heard that the stock ECU programming is different for different countries (due to different fuel, emissions requirements, etc.). Does it matter if I decide to chip my car over there?

Just curious...

Thanks!

Do you have pictures or a link to pictures of the interior? I'm curious as to what it looks like.

Default well, I gues I could chip it here, before moving...

my only concern is, if anything goes wrong, I will have to ship the ECU back to the US to get it fixed. No local support, anotherwords :-(

Default I beleive APR will be selling products in europe soon

so talk to them about working a deal and getting a european chip in trade or something for your US one after you move. I have no idea if/when they will have european products available...call and ask about it if you are serious.

Default Sell your car here and get something you cannot get here

That's a good reason to move by itself!

Default My sister moved to Germany and brought her Geo Metro with her. Sad, very sad.

But she sold it & got a volvo 850 turbo, then a 323i

But a Metro? In Germany? ARRRRRRRRRRRGH!

I went over there to visit and I had to drive a f***ing Geo on the Autobahns!!! Yeah, I was going 85, milking all I could out of the mad 3 cylinder engine in the slow lane and getting passed like I was standing still. I wanted to cry.
