Check Engine Light On
I have a 99 a4 1.8t quattro. Car never caused a problem. But this morning I drove to work, and everything was fine. When I was leaving, after ten minute the check engine started blinking, and car acted weird, so I immidiately pulled over and stopped.
I notice the car ws completely out of oil. Gladly there was an auto zone where I stopped.
So I about Valvoline full synthetic, and put it in the car.
I turned the car on, afte a minute the check engine went from blinking to on the whole tme, but car drove normally.
After an hour, I was driving the grocery store, when I first turned it on, linght blinked and car didnt drive normally fo few minutes and then it s fine.
But now the light is blinking the whole time, and I feel that the engine is shaking..
Any suggestions?
Thank u,
Get it to a shop NOW and have them go over it. Be prepared for dire news.
Check the code with an OBD reader... if it says random cylinder misfire it might just be a coilpack
while your low oil is just a coincidence
And I dont know if this is necessary, but they said they need to change a computer module, not sure why!!!
Does this sound right?
1) Coil packs
2) ICM = Ignition control module
3) spark plugs
all easy to self diagnose + replace
the oil leak
well:
I would ask them where the leak is or what it is. 650 may be an ok price; but that depends on what they are fixing
rear main seal for 650 + all your misfires ... sweet! price
replacing cracked oil cooler
meh worth about 100
it's all relative
