Climate Control
Just purchased an 99 A4 2.8Q, after a week I noticed that the climate control buttons weren't operating correctly. By pushing on any of them the system is supposed to come on yet that doesn't happen most of the time. I usually have to use the "OFF" button to turn the system on and then I can't adjust anything, fan speed, temp, vent. This doesn't always happen and the system does blow out cold air everytime, summer time=A/C, but this is getting worse. Took it to the dealer and thay have to replace the head unit for the climate control, which they have to order, and while my car was in another came in with the same problem. Anyone else have this issue? I love the car but this type of thing makes
me nervous in a new car.

May be a bad batch, tends to work that way...
I kind of think the same thing aboout the trip display, most of the problems seem to center around the 98.5, and I haven't heard of older displays having problems (hey, if I'm wrong just let me have it). So I think they made a design or process change that hopefully they have backed out be now (not like I've never done that). For a keyboard to go bad they may have gotten some bad material in the door, or maybe a contamination problem. Anyway, don't worry, be happy, and enjoy your new toy.
