Climate control is having a breakdown...

So suddenly the climate control has started rapidly changing from cool to hot air and back. I'm not sure if this is common, but I can hear something inside the dash creaking when it changes (related problem?). Anyway, when it's bad, it happens once every couple of seconds. Anybody had this problem/know what's broken?

not sure if it's the problem but, someone was selling the CC controls on ebay a couple

of days ago.

Did you check the ACC codes?

This sounds like the sensor that measures the hot/cold air mix is broken. Did you fetch the ACC codes? (You don't need an OBD for this - hold recirculate and then up-arrow at the same time)

Yep, one unit did sell on ebay 2 weeks ago. I bought it. Turns out I was able to repair my CC unit without needing any spares from the ebay'd unit. So, I have 1 spare unit.

What was wrong and how did you fix it? I found the error code and it's C1 (or 1C).

1C is not a code - see the ACC FAQ

It showed a code but then suddenly went back to showing 0.0. Now it's showing 9.3, which I'm pretty sure is what was showing before. I didn't see this in the faq though. Any ideas?

Look at various values of the temp regulator flap

Look at them as you drive around, also look at the diag codes as you drive. My point is that the ACC control unit might not be the problem - it could be a sensor or a motor controlling a flap. A new contol unit will not fix this.
