Climate Control Unit Blinks
Has anyone else experienced this? The unit that control the fan and temp in my 96 A4 will come and go. It still works, but you can't see the disply. Sometimes if I press on the surround, it will show up, then go away.
Any ideas besides replacing the whole unit?

When that happened on my wife's car, it was due to the solder joints on the main board.....
inside the climate contro head where the ribbon cable connector joins.. a quick re-solder, and all is now perfect.

Depends. How are you at soldering? To get it out, you need to slide the radio out...
then remove the wood trim, then you can remove the CC head unit.. Not terribly hard, IIRC I didn't even remove the harness for the stereo, just moved it all off to the side.

same problem just started on my '96. haven't had it looked at yet. scared what it will cost to fix.
any one have issues with the aux fan staying on?
seems the 96's are starting to fall apart up in here.
