Default Clutch Master Cylinder

Hello everyone, I hope you have been doing well. On the contrary i haven't with repairing my car. I have been trying to replace my clutch master cylinder, and it has proven to be more difficult than i had thought. I own a 1997 Audi 2.8 Quattro. I have already bought 2 new master cylinders and both of them started leaking brake fluid from the grommet where the brass hose goes into the cylinder. I have checked to make sure that i was installing the part right multiple times and it still kept leaking. The fluid doesn't even seem to be going into the cylinder itself either because i checked to see if it was gaining some pressure and it was not. I am a bit of a newbie to repairing cars and I thought it'd be best to ask here. Is there something i'm missing?
