clutch pedal has a "click" when i push it past a certain place...
When I depress my clutch pedal pass a certain point, I hear a "click"..... the click is very audible with the aircon and radio off.
I never heard it until 1,500 miles ago....
total 13K on car...
its driving me nuts
what's wrong with my clutch?
have i been dumping my clutch too often?
what's the usual problem associated with this and how do i fix it?
i'm apr chipped btw...
any comments / fixes / helps / anything... appreciated.....thanks...

Re: clutch pedal has a "click" when i push it past a certain place...
Is it only when it's cold out? My old 95 90q did that when it was below 25 degrees. They said it had to do with air surfacing in the hydrolic line because of the cold weather. It sounded good to me so I didn't dought the dealer. They also said it was harmless, not for my mind tho! I just lived with it but should have fixed it.

mine does that as well, but NEVER when I take it in for service.
I have told them about it and they can't find the reason for the clicking...it drives me crazy!!!!

Does your starter crank before the click happens? If not, then it is your clutch
safety switch, which chances are had always sounded that way, but you never took notice until now. I do not recall anything in the A4's simple clutch lever assembly that can cause a click other than the return spring which you can remedy with some grease, but I doubt it is doing that.

more followup info....
The click occurs all the time, regardless of temperature. I usually get anywhere from 50 F to 75 F in LA, but now I'm in Cupertino, CA and I get on average 45 F - 55 F.
It could be the starter safety, I'll check later.
Symptoms started after I got my APR chip (the night I got it, I must have did 0-60s and 60-0s around 7-8 times....) hehe my brakes are worn out now....
would it be related to harsh shifting?
because the next night, a fellow audi owner asked if he could test drive my APR chipped A4, I said sure....but MAN DOES HE SUCK AT DRIVING STICK.... how in the world can an a4 manual driver suck at driving his own car?????? i mean this guy was grinding my gears and everything....
that's the last time i trust anyone with my car..
i even got pissed at a valet parker once because it was CLEAR he did not know how to drive a manual transmission car...
Yeah, this started happening after that guy drove my car...

This is a dry clutch sleeve...it's lubed at the factory...
and sometimes forgotten by careless german assembly line workers. The only way it can be fixed is during a clutch replacement. I had it too...especially when it was cold out.

clutch or clutch pedal?
If it's coming from your clutch pedal, then it could be the helper spring. With the clutch pedal depressed half way down, the spring comes into action and helps to press the clutch pedal all the way down.
