Correct tire pressure - what a novel idea!?
Checked my tires yesterday and they were all 5-7 lbs underinflated. Major improvement with the tires at 42psi - rolls better...easier to shift smooth.
Between that and the 3/4 qt. low oil level (I cant allow myself to believe the break in/burn theory), I wonder how thorough the pre-delivery inspection was...

Pre-delivery inspection...
You say that the tires were underinflated by 5-7 psi and you now have them at 42? That implies that the car was delivered with 35-37psi in the tires; isn't that within the factory-recommended range? I mean, preferring a higher pressure is fine, but I don't think that's a delivery inspection problem.
My '96 2.8 drove *really* hard at first, until I got out and checked the pressure and found it was delivered at 50 psi; they had apparently forgotten to reduce the shipping pressure to one that was driveable. Now *that* is a delivery inspection problem.
And yes, while I can't speak for the 30V, I can say from experience that the 12V 2.8 can go through a lot of oil during break-in.

Gas door says 42psi. I'm sure 35 is within the acceptable...
...range. I was just a little surprised that they were underinflated, and how much of a difference it made. Sounds like you had a very similar experience!
Im still on the fence about the oil....but it will be interesting to see if it burns more (?) oil between now and the 5K service interval.
