Default Cruise Control Problems ...

Hey Guys, I have a 96 A4, and my Cruise hasn't worked since I purchased the car. I know that a switch is usually to blame, however, I just replaced my switch due to headlights not turning on. The switch was brand new, so Im positive that it isnt the problem. (The lights now work perfectly) Does anyone know what other things might be to blame? Any insight, as always, is appreciated.

Thanks!

Default Is it programmed with a VAG-tool for cruise control ?

It maybe worth checking out with someone that has a VAG-Tool local to you...

Default My CC stalk is separate from headlamp arm. Problem could be ECU related...

... My cruise control stopped working a while back and the dealer found that it was the ECU that controlled the CC, located somewhere behind the glovebox(?). Anyway, that had to be replaced - the stalk was fine.

On your '96 A4 - are the cruise controls and headlamp switch all on one stalk?

Default I searched but I can't find the post: someone figured out a way to clean the contacts and fix the CC

It involved removing the CC stalk and using an eraser or something to clean the contacts in the module. The headlight and cruise control stalks are different in my car. If you find the link please post it as I thought I had it tracked...

Default I had the same problems with my signal AND my cruise...

...turns out they are connected somehow. They replaced the entire stalk and that solved it.
