Default Cruise diagnostic --- no power!

Ok, I found that my B5 A4 had a faulty cruise switch and I fixed that, but my cruise still doesn't work! Testing the lines at the cruise control unit side with the cruise switch turned on and the ignition on, no DC power is coming out of pin 11 (However, I do have power all the time on pin 9, not as much voltage though when ignition is off, not sure what that line is for).

I did briefly see the cruise actually work today, so I'm pretty sure if I can get past this latest cruise electrical problem, cruise will start working all the time. My brake lights go on and off correctly, I have an auto transmission so I dont think there is a "brake vent switch", need a clue how

As for the 5-amp fuse being the likely culprit..., here is the weird thing: it seems that the CC fuse is in a slightly different place on my car than it is documented to be. Instead of being in slot 13, it is in slot 9 (which is supposed to be a vacant slot), and the slot 13 is empty and has no wiring to accept any fuse. Has anybody ever seen a B5 A4 fuse layout like this?

Much appreciation for your thoughts and any ideas on how I should proceed.

Default Which motor? There is a vacuum pump on the 1.8T's connected to the throttle body..

It could be faulty.

Default No power at the cruise controller itself

Haven't needed to look at the vacuum pump yet.

Default Don't have the diagram in front of me.

But see if the switch powers up the module. I *think* it does, and if so, switches fail lots.

Default I think I already said it is not the cruise switch

I fixed that. Still no power is getting to the cruise module on pin 11.

Default Pin 11 comes from the brake switch though the cruise switch...

if you have already changed the cruise I would check that brake switch. As for 9 it is the speed sensor, I found if you roll the car a bit (it wasn't much) you can see it change up and down. Almost forgot, the vent switch and brake light switch are independent.

Default My brake light functions properly

Could the brake switch be bad nevertheless?

Also, what is the vent switch and could that also be the problem for pin 11 no power at the CC module?
