so i was just about to go food shopping. hopped in my car, stepped on the clutch, turned the key and it won't start. the screen on the dash said "push clutch in to start car" while the clutch was down. i just drove the car about an hour ago with no problems. i have not noticed any problems recently with the clutch itself. anyone ever have a problem with this. i'm really not the most knowledgable when it comes to audis so im not too sure of what the problem could be. i did a quick search and saw something about a central locking unit, but there seems to be some debate about starting the car with or without it. i don't see how the clutch can just die like that, if that's the case. i would appreciate any help i can get.

nope it wont turn over and it's not the normal dead battery sound.

look under the dash at the switch that contacts the clutch levers... make sure it is firmly mounted and getting depressed.

I had the same question the other night, and my friend made a fool of my by turning the wheel slightly from the locked position. See if that works.
