The BMW's are excellent cars, but the E46 series doesn't win any design prizes in my book. First off I prefer the E36's, I just really liked the way they looked. Second, consider that the E46 borrows heavily from the A4, and not very well in my opinion. I do like the coupes, but the sedans just don't look good from some angles. But it's your car and your opinion is the only one that should count. Just consider that style is timeless, think Porsche 911 (little changed for the first 20 years, and still very simmilar to the original (in the styling department).

Its a shame that not matter how nice and timeless a design is, if its out for more than a few years, the industry slaps the "dated" tag on it and everyone agrees?

The A4 was/in/will be a beautifull car. When it first came out it was a looker, and while the car is 4 +- years old, I think it still looks great.

It makes no sense to me. Granted, some cars are in dire need of constant updates. The Japanese marks need constant updating just to keep people interested, and most US brands need to change just to make up for mistakes (re: Taurus). But, at least with the A4, there should be no pressing need to update the it since, frankly, it looks more "modern" than most cars on the road.

Audi should never change the look of the A4. The A6 is just another run-of-the-mill bubble car (read as ugly), and theTT looks like a flattened beetle. The A4 and A8 are the best looking cars available.
