Differential Service
So I've got all my crap together to do my diff fluid: Redline 75w90, transfer pump, allen key socket 10mm. I jack the car up and drain the fluid. All good until now I need to fill the sucker back up. I put all I could into opening the fill plug and finally sheered the socket from the key part. No damage to the plug thankfully. Problem is now I've got no fluid in it other than whatever didn't drip off.
Here is my problem now I'm stuck and I want to know how stuck. I live around the corner from a very reputable shop litterally about an eighth of a mile away. Can I drive there relying on only the oil stuck to the metal or will not having any for the diff to bath in cause damage over that short distance of driving. Please help. Thanks.

I remember I had to put on a lot of PB bluster, cleaned the hole in the nut using a small screw driver, and hammer the allen socket in fully. But I took the advice to take fill in plug off before working on the drain plug.
I believe you can take the nut out. Buy a good socket, make sure to hammer it in the nut fully before twisting hard using a breaker bar.

I'm just going to take it in and let them break the plug this time. I really don't want to go through the hassle of trying to get it off when I don't have the position or leverage to exert the force I'll need to get it off. So is it safe it's a half mile at most?

This is for the rear diff. I took it this morning to the shop and just drove it under 5mph to get it there. Lesson learned I'll be looking at the write ups from now on for little things like this. I spent the majority of the time searching the forums instead to find where the jack stand positions are. Lots of threads asking for the info but not a lot of detail on where they go.

This is a stick vehicle. I thought about having them do the other(s) but didn't have enough oil to do them. I just got the car back and it all worked out fine but I am out 80.00 to get it done kinda sucks but towing would have been 50.00 anyway. Does the manual in the front have two reservoirs or oil or does the diff and the tranny lubricate using the same oil?
