Dropped the trans + worn AWE stage II clutch (pics inside)
Took about 5 hr total work time to get this thing out. Not too difficult but the quattro trans is impressively heavy.
Ordered all the parts to include:
both engine mounts
both trans mounts
new Dual Mass FW plus bolts
new OEM clutch plus bolts
pilot bearing
slave cylinder
front O2 sensor
all seals inc rear main and trans seals
cat gaskets
MOTUL full sytnth gear oil for trans and rear diff
TOTAL=slightly over $1100--these cars are not cheap to maintain!!!
Here are the pics:

not done yet :) --but if not DIY, you are corrrect (more)
I am just used to the jap cars where you resurface the flywheel and the whole deal costs $300 plus your own labor

a comment....
Just imagine what the bill would be if you had to pay for labor as well! Nice job. There is no doubt its alot of work. You must have been moving to get that done by yourself in that time. I ran across a number of seized bolts when replacing ours.

luckily and suprisingly, there were no seized bolts at all (more)
Don't misunderstand me 5 hrs was for disassembly. I have not replaced the parts or put the trans back in yet!!

A response....
OK, now this makes more sense. I should have had more coffee today. I had to attack some of the bolts on ours with my 3/4 drive rachet and a 4ft breaker bar. My Ing.Rand impact gun would not even move them. You might have a new exhaust clamp handy, I found ours just would not reseal properly after it was disturbed.
