Engine knock when braking
I have a 99 2.8 tiptronic w/ 22.5K miles. When applying the brakes, especially after the car has chugged up a steep hill, I hear a loud knock or click sound coming from under the hood. The sound happens once (not an ongoing sound) and has been happening more frequently over the last couple of weeks (that is, almost every time I step on the brake)! Luckily the car is going in for its service so hopefully they can check it out.
