So my car is coming up on 36 months... and only 30,500 miles...

1. What types of warranties (2 yr, 100k/mi, etc.) do people here have experience with?

2. Is an extended warranty worth the cost?

3. What did you pay for your car to have the extended warranty, and was it through Audi?

call your dealer or any audi dealer to get info for a warranty company that they use, and get the numbers. Some guys here run their cars very hard, and for them i can see the warranty being good. Note that high levels of modifications may affect your warranty coverage. Additionally, some aftermarket warranties specify the given dealership/garage to do the work, and that IMHO is a bad, bad thing, because you are at the mercy of that dealership, and they can pad any bill to get where they want financially.

Me, my lease comes up in August, and im buying my car (i hate the new A4). Ill look into the cost, but i think ill just take my chance....i have had zero mechanical issues to date, i baby my Audi, and since i drive very little (22k in 3 years) i won't get my use out of any warranty...i only put about 5k on my car this past year, 1200 from two roadtrips.

My A4 had 25k @ 36 mos. and I decided against it.

I had one repair under warranty (A/C control unit), so I'm not totally confident. But I'm betting I won't have to spend the $3k or so that I would have spent for the warranty in the 3 additional years I plan to have the car.

All the warranties I looked at excluded any car with mods. There may some others out there that are OK with mods but I didn't find them. Plus most contracts like that are all slanted towards the insurers benefit. IE, whatever can break is excluded.
