Fire extinguisher for mounting inside trunk of my A4?
I've been toying with the idea of mounting a fire extinguisher in the truck of my A4, probably on the upper deck of the trunk. NO, NO, NO... not for "bling" -- my car is the furthest thing away from bling.
I was thinking for "emergency" type situations, either involving my car or if I come upon a fire on the road. I guess my question is: Given the extreme in-car temperatures that my A4 is exposed to just parking in the sun here in Arizona, would the thing explode? Would it seriously deteriorate over time or lose pressure due to the high temps in the trunk? Is there a good model of Kidde <sp?> extinguisher that already comes with a mounting bracket?
Thoughts?

Those things are kinda lame
you get 3 secons max with one of those "kiddie" extinguishers.
bout enough to put out something you could stomp out (by the time you stopped and got into the trunk it would be too late)

What brand/style/size would you recommend?
Or if you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. It doesn't have to be "chrome" or anything. Just able to be a good extinguisher, mountable to my trunk area, and able to withstand high temps from within the trunk in an AZ summer, parked out in the sun all day.

Get one that is rated at least 10A X 30-40 BC no smaller. Anything smaller is a joke.
Seriously, the small ones fine for a spot where you simply can not mount a decent size one... like inside the car on the pillar (BAD idea) or one the floor in front of the pass seat like Scratchrob stated.
If you put it in the trunk get a bigger one. Yes the heat will make it last a shorter time, but it should be fine as far as not exploding or anything as long as it's maintained and a good quality unit. A C02 or Halon/etc extinguisher would be nice, but they are more $$.
The larger one in the trunk will be harder to get to, however it will actually have some ability to put out a fire. A smaller one will be so fast/short of a blast it will be funny. (or not funny in reality)
I was a firefighter (volunteer) for nine years... and saw quite a few car fires. Many could have been stopped with a decent extinguisher............BUT only if you know what to do, how to react and when to run like HELL! Be careful.
