First and Second Gear Sticking

First and Second Gear Sticking
My first and second gears are hard to shift into during the first few times I use these gears in the morning. I've got the clutch all the way in and I have to really push the stick before it seats properly. Sometimes I even get grinding in second gear. The problem is most obvious in the morning when I go to work, however it happens now and then when I pull out from a cold start at a red light.
Is this a common during transmission breakin? I've only had the car for two months and I really expected smoother shifting. 2001 A4 1.8T QMS.

Archives?
Its been discussed a million times.
Suggestions:
Learn to double clutch (also in the archives). Once you learn to properly match revs, you can shift back and forth with no difficulty, and no worries about wearing out the 2nd gear synchro.
The Audi box is very tough, and as such the gear pitch is pretty big on the synchro rings. Also there is a healthy step between ratios. This makes shifting a bit tougher, but you can put a lot more torque thru the trans than most trannys.
Enjoy.

1st and 2nd difficulty is as old as Audi. You can try switching...
...to a different brand of synthetic gear oil, as that helped some with my '89, 90Q. Mobil 1 gear oil worked best in that car. Any time you think that's annoying, just remember that you could have gotten a tiptronic. With all the flakiness of the tip, the sticky gears of the manual sound appealing!
