Default FMIC question

I know some people that can convert Supra and other big turbo Intercoolers to fit the Audi...they take the intercoolers of the other cars and manufactuer piping to run in the 1.8...does this sound like a good idea? has anyone done this? Im not ready to do something like this just yet. But to be educated before making a decision is always smart...Thanks for the Feedback.

oh.
the reason I would consider this is cost, as it is much cheaper than a good turner FMIC

Default yes but then you have to deal with software... your current ECU will..

be unable to handle the additional air that is going into the turbo. you will need to get a chip that is capable of readjusting for just that task.

Default I understand that if you have DBW it's also very important to get the software

upgraded otherwise you'll throw codes and even go into limp mode.
