Fried ECU

Fried ECU
Need some help! I think I fried my ECU. I just got my car back from the body shop last night, so I decided to put my GIAC chip back in. When I plugged it back in to the car it had power and I could access all modules but the Engine mondule with the VAG-COM, and the car turns but does not fire over. I put the stock chip in and the same thing happens. So my question is can I have the place where I bought the GIAC chip re-soder new pins and replace the chip and stock module or do I have to buy a entire new ECU.
Should have used one of those static braclets. Any thoughts anyone.

You can have a new chip installed... similar thing happened to me...
though mine just died while I was driving. I had the place resolder the joints, and then install a new chip later. they did it all under warranty. Not sure if that's the issue you are having, but perhaps

Did they ever tell you what caused the problem? Where did you get your chip, I bought mine at Shine Racing hope they'll replace it under warranty, driving up there Monday to see if they can fix it.
