I must admit that I needed my mechanic to find it for me, after I had become so frustrated. I would hear it when I was driving at any speed over irregular surfaces and quite honestly never associated the sound with my brakes. I had heard brake squeeks before and had corrected that with brake grease on the moving caliper parts. However, this sounded like it was in the suspension or steering components? Probably would have never figured it was the brakes, since I had replaced the pads recently and the noise was there before and remained after the last pad change.

No not that one. The pronged thing that fits into the inner caliper and is actually attached to the pad. My mechanic called it a spring, but not what I would normally associate with a spring.

Yes, that is exactly where my sound was coming from and sounded like the jiggle of a loose bolt to me.
